Democrats and Gay Marriage

This is in regards to Nicholas Quaschnik's editorial on Democrats backing same sex marriage. Nicholas understands that same sex marriage is important to society, through his job related events and life experiences, he has also realized that Obama and the Democrats are distracting the public with supporting same sex marriages because they don't want you to remember that every business that Obama has tried to accomplish has failed.  The fast and furious operation scandal and how it killed a government agent, that unemployment is at the highest its ever been, the security leaks and that Obamacare is a joke. I've definitely noticed that every time the public is not supporting Obama, some kind of break through happens, for instance, illegals are now legal, or he "evolved" into supporting same sex marriage and increasing financial aid for students.
My personal belief is that if you're gay, straight, bi, or whatever your into, your a human being first, also you pay taxes and you should be able to do what everybody else can do in this country. I was also in the military like Nicholas and when I first joined was very closed minded on situations like homosexuality, but while I was in I met an amazing person who happen to be a lesbian and eventually became a friend of mine and we still talk to maintain our friendship.
Is believing or "evolving" to same sex marriage a top priority in America? Shouldn't our economy be a bigger concern or jobs for citizens? Obama knows that his last 4 years was a complete failure and is playing all his cards to persuade the voters. The public must realize that this is only a distraction to hide his failures. To make same sex marriage a law, the public must do the all work. Contact our Congressmen and Senators, sign petitions, have rallies, do whatever it takes to get it amended. The president does not have the power to change this, so all he has to do is say that he supports same sex marriages because he knows nothing will be done. WE THE PEOPLE must act.

Carbon Tax

There are a lot of discussions about the worlds pollution and the different ways to fix the pollution problems. In this article my main focus will be on Carbon Tax, Carbon Tax is a direct tax on carbon content of fossil fuels (oil, natural gas, and coal). It imposes a fee on the production, distribution or use of fossil fuels based on how much carbon content they use. The tax makes using dirty fuels more expensive, it encourages businesses and the individual to reduce their consumption. Carbon Tax also makes alternative energy more cost-competitive with fossil fuels. Overall this is a great idea to bring cleaner resources to the market, but the government should be making it easier for the average man and not to attack him with taxes especially during times like these. Here's an example of what the government knows and won't do; oil is the most used natural resource in America today and is also the most profitable. The Oil companies such as Shell, Exxon, BP, and Chevron have made a fortune during these times of oil scarcity and now the government wants a piece of the pie, with the Carbon Tax. Oil companies jack up the prices every time a major incident has happened for example hurricane Katrina, after this horrific event gas prices rose a dollar more even though the oil companies had plenty of oil barrels in reserves. I have recently watched a documentary "Gashole" about gas companies and why the rise in prices. I wanted know that with all the technology that we have today we still have cars that get only 20mpg. What I found is very shocking in this documentary. What if I told you that the technology to have 100 miles per gallon vehicles exists, but the Oil companies bought the technology solely because they wanted to sell more gas. Would you still be OK with the Carbon Tax? Maybe in some aspects like coal and natural gas, but oil? Tom Ogle a mechanic from El Paso Texas made the Water Vapor Engine that could move a hummer sized vehicle in the late 1970's a 100mpg vehicle. He did so by heating a water gas mixture and as the mixture got hot enough a vapor pumped directly into the carburetor, in which allowed the car to receive 100mpg. Ogle also mentioned that this technology would be very beneficial to the world's environment. Tom Ogle died recently after he made the discovery, he was found on the side of the road, and it was ruled that he died of an over dose. Coincidence? I bet the question you're asking is why isn't congress or government officials doing something? From our last discussion board topic Congress, Committees, and Campaign Money you have realized that oil and gas companies are high contributors to our Congressmen and Senator's campaign.Which entitles our elected officials to do nothing, but keep the oil industries going and happy. Now the government has decided to tax the people about $1 per gallon on top of the ridiculous gas prices, instead of going for the technology from the oil companies who make trillions of dollars a year. With this deal the government and the oil industries are happy, just not the public. The Carbon Tax is a giant leap forward to creating a pollution free environment, but sadly the payment will fall in the hands of the people who have so little. Personal point: I hope everybody in my class reads this blog and does more investigation for themselves.

Reviewing "The Great Mitsby" by Alexandra Rearick

This post is in regards to "The Great Mitsby" by Alexandra Rearick, I agree with Alexandra on the view that most of the population sees the Republican candidate Mitt Romney as one of the 1% and Obama is not considered part of the 1%? Who is the 1%? Obama Graduated from Harvard Law and Columbia University. I'm sure it takes a lot of money to go those schools. Overall who cares if Romney is, should we punish him for being raised in a rich family? My answer would be no, because one of the greatest presidents during a time of crisis called "The Great Depression" Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected president, who was one of the richest men in the country and he brought balance back to the country with his New Deal idea. FDR strove to get things done and would listen to anyone who had an idea to fix the problem. I see a little of that in Romney. Most of the past presidents were raised in a wealthy family, so whats the big deal now? President Obama was elected to change the economy, put the nation back in balance and that has not happened during his term in office. Obama has tried creating businesses for example "Solyndra" that cost $535 million to help our planet with solar panels and for cheaper electricity, but it went bankrupt. Can we afford to keep him in another term? This country needs solutions, not more problems. If we look at the overall picture, there needs to be someone with new ideas in the House and not someone who tries to please everyone to get votes. This country needs change Obama failed, who's next? Also in Alexandra's post the NAACP convention was brought to attention.  The NAACP booed Romney at a conference in Houston about his repeal for the Obamacare, this is the same NAACP who has backed Obama 100% during his term. Even on issues that the NAACP has never backed before in the past, example: same-sex marriages. Weird isn't it? Has Obama tried to talked to the Tea Party organization to get his word out and try to understand or work with the Tea Party? Absolutely not! The only time Obama mentions the Tea Party is when he's making fun and laughing at their expense. Our President is making fun of his citizens, who are tax payers. Think about that. I give Romney credit and my approval for trying at the NAACP convention, in which Obama who is too cocky to go himself.

Deceiving the American People

Today many people are discussing the Obamacare situation, asking is it constitutional or is it unconstitutional? The Health Care Law requires most adults not covered by an employer or government-sponsored insurance plan to maintain health insurance coverage or pay a penalty, a provision known as the individual mandate. Obama told the American people that the new Health Care Law will not be a tax, also Obama stated on September 2009 interview with George Stephanopoulos, that the failure to obtain health insurance under the mandate is “absolutely not a tax increase.” When the Health Care Law received by the Supreme Court Obama told the judges that it is in fact a tax. Since the Health Care Law is a tax the Supreme Court allowed it to be constitutional because under the Constitution it states in section 8 clause 1 Congress has the power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts. This shows that the President can not be trusted, he says one thing and does another to accomplish his goals and without the care of the American people's choice. Obamacare also has some important information that goes along with the new Health Care Law, the taxes don't stop with the individual mandate. The Obama's Health Care Law contains 20 new or higher taxes on American families and businesses. There is the tax on health savings accounts, the tax on indoor tanning and the tax on families using flexible spending accounts for special needs education for their children, to name just a few. Even though Obama said he wasn’t taxing the American people, he signed into law 20 new provisions that act like tax increases. 76% of Americans with incomes of $120,000 or less will pick up the tab to support individuals who cant afford health care. The majority of Americans never supported this Health Care Law from day one, so why is this Law being passed? Do the American people have a choice? This Law is being passed because Obama wants America to have a strong federal government and have the hard working class support the people who don't contribute to civil society. Under Obama's rule the people have no choice in Obama's decisions, despite what the majority wants. Many Senators want to repeal legislation to the floor for a vote on the Health Care Law. This Law must be voted on in the Senate.  If the government just gives benefits to people, the people will have no drive to better themselves and will not want to contribute to society. This Law is considered to be like car insurance, but worse. In no way is this free health care, the individuals who pay a monthly payment are still going to have to pay doctors fees and other expenses. The doctors are going to be overloaded with patients and are only going to spend a minimum amount of time with their patients, which will severely damage their diagnoses. If anybody wants to see the future of Obamacare go to a VA hospital. I've personally waited six and half hours for someone to see me and the doctor spent fifteen minutes consulting me. If that's what you want, then by all means support this Health Care Law.

Fast and Furious Scandal

The blog "Fast and Furious and OCDETF" written by Andrew McCarthy from the National Review, this blog relates to the Fast and Furious ATF operation scandal that was managed or involved with by Attorney General Eric Holder who is in control of the Department of Justice. Fast and Furious was a operation that dealt with illegal transfer of weapons into Mexico and sold to mexican cartels that was called "gunwalking". OCDETF stands for Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force, that are involved with the FBI, DEA, ATF, Secret Service, postal inspectors, etc.  The DOJ has a close involvment with OCDETF, due to the unlimited funding that goes into the OCDETF from the DOJ . The question still stands why did Holder, who knew about the Fast and Furious ATF operation get "executive privilage" from President Obama? President Obama denied congress to hold Eric Holder in contempt and he withheld public access to critical information about his part in a ill-conceived investigation that resulted in the murder of Brian Terry, a federal Border Patrol agent. McCarthy believes that the President intervened on Holders behalf was to protect himself from the scandal.  This article caught my attention because not too many people hear about how the scandal was demolished by our President. Andrew McCarthy understands the involvement between the DOJ and OCDETF, due to his experience when working at the U.S. Attorney office and has worked on OCDETF cases. The intended audience was to the nation to understand that the DOJ and the OCDETF are involved together closely and how President Obama intervene to cover this incident up. I agree with Andrew McCarthy on the issue of Eric Holder and how he can not escape the law becuase hes a top figure. If a political adminstration is breaking the law for some secret agenda, then the individual or individuals must be put on trial. McCarthy states that President Obama invoked executive privilage to protect himself, i totally agree with this statement, not once has he ever admitted that he was wrong about a decision or anything he does.

Obama's Leaks Get More Votes.

Earlier in the month of June classified information got out to the public about the "Kill List" for terrorists and that the military is using cyberweapons against Iran. The belief is that our National Security may have been compromised. Senator McCain and Chambliss, called for the appointment of a special counsel to investigate the leaks. The USA Today stated that "Leaks Can Serve a Purpose", my question is to whom, the public or for Obama's image? St. Louis Post-Dispatch states three reasons why Obama didn't release the leaks for political reasons: "One, President Obama has been strong and decisive on national security, if not always correct or forthright. Two, he has not been shy about taking credit for it. And three, some people might have leaked for political reasons, but others may have just been bragging — infiltrating an al-Qaeda bomb-making operation was pretty slick."

My opinion is that the public needs to know more about what the government has done, what its doing and who's actually running this country. However I also believe that everything Obama has done is to boost up his image politically without care of whats best for this country. Some examples are, speaking to an all women college graduation when his women votes are down in the polls; the infamous celebrity dinners trying to receive popularity votes; his support for same-sex marriage even though he was against it in the past; using executive order to make illegal children legal, and he himself killed Bin Laden not the Navy Seals team that was in place before he was elected. All of these examples are to boost his image so that the people will vote for him. We the people have the right to know what our government is doing and how its being done. I think too many documents are classified and need to be released to the public. I am all for the leaks coming out to the public, but be professional about the classified material. Also don't brag about how the U.S. government operation has taken many lives during the process. Classified material goes through a lot to become declassified, as the President he should have waited or hurried up the process to get an OK and then exposed it to the public. Also "bragging" about classified information is reckless and irresponsible. What if the so called "bragging" puts lives at risk next time?

Out of Touch President

On June 8, 2012 President Obama announced to the country that the private sector "is doing just fine", but blames the Rep. party for not helping out or for promoting policies that would add weaknesses to the economy. Mitt Romney strikes back by saying he is out of touch with reality of the American people. This article is worth reading because it shows that the President will say anything to get reelected and that the Democrats and Republicans once again argue about ways the economy can get back on track. Our economy/debt is a serious issue and our two parties are fighting over who's right and who's wrong, like a bunch of school girls. I don't mean to be offensive at all, with that analogy. This article caught my eye because our President told the American people that the private sector "is doing fine", there's 23 million people who are unemployed, tax cuts will soon end, which will cause the smallest items that people take for granted become too expensive for the average individual to buy. We are not doing fine. I think this article is not only relevant to me, but to the whole nation. The American people need jobs.  I decided to blog about this article because things are not "doing fine", and the two parties need to come together and resolve this serious issue.

"So, let us not be blind to our differences - but let us also direct attention to our common interests and to the means by which those differences can be resolved."

Political Stand

I would call myself politically Independent/Republican. Im sort of new to being political, I try to have as much knowledge of politics. I believe The Media is the new church and state and must separate themselves from one sided campaigns or the other and do there jobs by telling the public the truth, no matter who it is. I strongly agree to individual rights and limited government,  individuals must realize that politics is a important topic to know or have an understanding because it deals with the individuals lives. I believe John F.Kennedy stated it best, when he said "ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country". I call myself Independent because the Democrats and Republicans just bash one another and the public has to choose between the lesser of the two evils.  Iam taking this class to become more knowledgable about politics and how the US government opperates. I try to stay informed in politics through the news on television and on the radio as much as i can, but i want to get a more depth look into government because Knowledge is Power during times like these.
