Carbon Tax

There are a lot of discussions about the worlds pollution and the different ways to fix the pollution problems. In this article my main focus will be on Carbon Tax, Carbon Tax is a direct tax on carbon content of fossil fuels (oil, natural gas, and coal). It imposes a fee on the production, distribution or use of fossil fuels based on how much carbon content they use. The tax makes using dirty fuels more expensive, it encourages businesses and the individual to reduce their consumption. Carbon Tax also makes alternative energy more cost-competitive with fossil fuels. Overall this is a great idea to bring cleaner resources to the market, but the government should be making it easier for the average man and not to attack him with taxes especially during times like these. Here's an example of what the government knows and won't do; oil is the most used natural resource in America today and is also the most profitable. The Oil companies such as Shell, Exxon, BP, and Chevron have made a fortune during these times of oil scarcity and now the government wants a piece of the pie, with the Carbon Tax. Oil companies jack up the prices every time a major incident has happened for example hurricane Katrina, after this horrific event gas prices rose a dollar more even though the oil companies had plenty of oil barrels in reserves. I have recently watched a documentary "Gashole" about gas companies and why the rise in prices. I wanted know that with all the technology that we have today we still have cars that get only 20mpg. What I found is very shocking in this documentary. What if I told you that the technology to have 100 miles per gallon vehicles exists, but the Oil companies bought the technology solely because they wanted to sell more gas. Would you still be OK with the Carbon Tax? Maybe in some aspects like coal and natural gas, but oil? Tom Ogle a mechanic from El Paso Texas made the Water Vapor Engine that could move a hummer sized vehicle in the late 1970's a 100mpg vehicle. He did so by heating a water gas mixture and as the mixture got hot enough a vapor pumped directly into the carburetor, in which allowed the car to receive 100mpg. Ogle also mentioned that this technology would be very beneficial to the world's environment. Tom Ogle died recently after he made the discovery, he was found on the side of the road, and it was ruled that he died of an over dose. Coincidence? I bet the question you're asking is why isn't congress or government officials doing something? From our last discussion board topic Congress, Committees, and Campaign Money you have realized that oil and gas companies are high contributors to our Congressmen and Senator's campaign.Which entitles our elected officials to do nothing, but keep the oil industries going and happy. Now the government has decided to tax the people about $1 per gallon on top of the ridiculous gas prices, instead of going for the technology from the oil companies who make trillions of dollars a year. With this deal the government and the oil industries are happy, just not the public. The Carbon Tax is a giant leap forward to creating a pollution free environment, but sadly the payment will fall in the hands of the people who have so little. Personal point: I hope everybody in my class reads this blog and does more investigation for themselves.

Reviewing "The Great Mitsby" by Alexandra Rearick

This post is in regards to "The Great Mitsby" by Alexandra Rearick, I agree with Alexandra on the view that most of the population sees the Republican candidate Mitt Romney as one of the 1% and Obama is not considered part of the 1%? Who is the 1%? Obama Graduated from Harvard Law and Columbia University. I'm sure it takes a lot of money to go those schools. Overall who cares if Romney is, should we punish him for being raised in a rich family? My answer would be no, because one of the greatest presidents during a time of crisis called "The Great Depression" Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected president, who was one of the richest men in the country and he brought balance back to the country with his New Deal idea. FDR strove to get things done and would listen to anyone who had an idea to fix the problem. I see a little of that in Romney. Most of the past presidents were raised in a wealthy family, so whats the big deal now? President Obama was elected to change the economy, put the nation back in balance and that has not happened during his term in office. Obama has tried creating businesses for example "Solyndra" that cost $535 million to help our planet with solar panels and for cheaper electricity, but it went bankrupt. Can we afford to keep him in another term? This country needs solutions, not more problems. If we look at the overall picture, there needs to be someone with new ideas in the House and not someone who tries to please everyone to get votes. This country needs change Obama failed, who's next? Also in Alexandra's post the NAACP convention was brought to attention.  The NAACP booed Romney at a conference in Houston about his repeal for the Obamacare, this is the same NAACP who has backed Obama 100% during his term. Even on issues that the NAACP has never backed before in the past, example: same-sex marriages. Weird isn't it? Has Obama tried to talked to the Tea Party organization to get his word out and try to understand or work with the Tea Party? Absolutely not! The only time Obama mentions the Tea Party is when he's making fun and laughing at their expense. Our President is making fun of his citizens, who are tax payers. Think about that. I give Romney credit and my approval for trying at the NAACP convention, in which Obama who is too cocky to go himself.

Deceiving the American People

Today many people are discussing the Obamacare situation, asking is it constitutional or is it unconstitutional? The Health Care Law requires most adults not covered by an employer or government-sponsored insurance plan to maintain health insurance coverage or pay a penalty, a provision known as the individual mandate. Obama told the American people that the new Health Care Law will not be a tax, also Obama stated on September 2009 interview with George Stephanopoulos, that the failure to obtain health insurance under the mandate is “absolutely not a tax increase.” When the Health Care Law received by the Supreme Court Obama told the judges that it is in fact a tax. Since the Health Care Law is a tax the Supreme Court allowed it to be constitutional because under the Constitution it states in section 8 clause 1 Congress has the power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts. This shows that the President can not be trusted, he says one thing and does another to accomplish his goals and without the care of the American people's choice. Obamacare also has some important information that goes along with the new Health Care Law, the taxes don't stop with the individual mandate. The Obama's Health Care Law contains 20 new or higher taxes on American families and businesses. There is the tax on health savings accounts, the tax on indoor tanning and the tax on families using flexible spending accounts for special needs education for their children, to name just a few. Even though Obama said he wasn’t taxing the American people, he signed into law 20 new provisions that act like tax increases. 76% of Americans with incomes of $120,000 or less will pick up the tab to support individuals who cant afford health care. The majority of Americans never supported this Health Care Law from day one, so why is this Law being passed? Do the American people have a choice? This Law is being passed because Obama wants America to have a strong federal government and have the hard working class support the people who don't contribute to civil society. Under Obama's rule the people have no choice in Obama's decisions, despite what the majority wants. Many Senators want to repeal legislation to the floor for a vote on the Health Care Law. This Law must be voted on in the Senate.  If the government just gives benefits to people, the people will have no drive to better themselves and will not want to contribute to society. This Law is considered to be like car insurance, but worse. In no way is this free health care, the individuals who pay a monthly payment are still going to have to pay doctors fees and other expenses. The doctors are going to be overloaded with patients and are only going to spend a minimum amount of time with their patients, which will severely damage their diagnoses. If anybody wants to see the future of Obamacare go to a VA hospital. I've personally waited six and half hours for someone to see me and the doctor spent fifteen minutes consulting me. If that's what you want, then by all means support this Health Care Law.
